Weaving Wood

In December of last year, some of our villagers had fun weaving with willow and helped to make seasonal decorations such as wreaths, Christmas trees, and stars. What made this activity even more special was the fact that the willow rods and all the other natural materials were harvested in the community. Neil patiently helped Aude collecting the willow rods which would be then used as upright for the Christmas trees and mostly for wreath making.

Guildhall Craft Fair Success

We had another successful weekend in November at the craft fair in the Guildhall in L/Derry thanks to all the hard work from our workshops. Not only for the beautiful products created but for the behind the scenes efforts of stamping bags, making labels, wrapping, folding and building our display.

Camphill Makaton Choir

On Dec 4th the Camphill Makaton Choir - directed by Steven - participated in the "Evening of Carols for Christmas", which took place in the Edenderry Parish Church.
The concert was a charity event that was set up in order to honor and support the work of the RDA (Omagh Group of Riding for the Disabled).
A lot of coworkers, residents and other members of the Camphill Community joined the audience. The whole choir staged "Jingle Bells" and "White Christmas".

Three Little Pigs

The farmers went to market and came back with three little pigs, who live in a house made of tin, no huffing or puffing will tear their house down.

NIHE Chairman Visit

Peter Roberts (chairman of the [NIHE] Northern Ireland Housing Executive)  along with Laura O’Neill, the Disability Sector Contracts Manager, visited CCC, a visit organized by our Chair Peter Archdale.

The visit explored areas of common interest, allowed for information sharing and considered future development, planning, and collaborative working.

This visit has opened up many possibilities that are currently being explored.

We are grateful to Prof. Roberts and Laura taking time out of their busy schedules to accommodate this visit.

WHSCT Training Day

On the 2nd of May CCC hosted a Training Day for 40 professionals from the Adult Learning Disability teams in the Omagh and Fermanagh area (southern sector of WHSCT). The all-day event took place in Heron Hall. Once again the Learners’ Café stepped up to the mark and provided the catering with exceptional service in the Recreation Room.

The training day provided an opportunity to showcase what we do to new and existing WHSCT staff. The Trust team were given a presentation on CCC which was followed by a walk around.
